Is this the best survey site?

If you only ever sign up to one survey site then make sure it’s this one!

In my opinion, the best survey site is called Prolific. It allows you to complete more academic surveys such as thoughts, feelings and reactions. This sets them apart from other survey sites and apps that are usually about opinions or topics such as technology or food.

Is this the best survey site?

In this blog post, I’ll explain how Prolific works along with the advantages and disadvantages of the site.

Is Prolific the best survey site?

Prolific is my favourite survey website because the surveys are interesting to do and they are often used as university research so I feel as though I’m really helping somebody when I complete a survey. You can be screened out if you take too long, only if you exceed the ‘estimated completion time’ which is much longer than you’ll need.

I know what you’re thinking, if this is ‘the best’ survey site then is it the highest paying?

Not exactly. Payment for each survey completely varies depending on the amount of time it will take to complete and how generous the researcher is. Prolific endorse ‘ethical rewards’ and suggest that researchers pay participants at least £5 per hour, that’s roughly 83p per 10 minutes.

The advantages:

  • Interesting surveys
  • It’s unlikely you’ll be screened out
  • Some surveys can be completed on mobile devices
  • Rewards add up quickly
  • You can withdraw money into your PayPal or Circle account
  • You can contact the researcher if there’s any problems with your participation or payment
  • Referral programme – if you refer a friend, you’ll receive 10% of their first payout

The disadvantages:

  • The minimum payout threshold is £5
  • Under £20 incurs a small fee to withdraw the money
  • The majority of surveys should be completed on a laptop/desktop
  • Participation in surveys must be approved by the researcher before you receive payment, but you can contact the researcher if it is taking longer than a couple of days
  • Surveys can be sporadic, there’s no pattern as to when they appear
